I’m a huge admirer of the literary food blog, Eat this Poem, where fellow food blogger Nicole Gulotta shares everyday poetry mixed with easy recipes.
On the homepage, Nicole’s warm words welcome you right from the start –
“If you love the smell of books, gathering around a dinner table, a good glass of wine (or tea), and reading when it rains, you’re in the right place.”
Instead of categories that are food-oriented, hers are names of poets who have inspired her writing and the recipes she shares on the blog.
Nicole writes in a voice that instantly draws you in; it’s calm, encouraging and also hypnotic all at once.
But other than her beautiful words and the poetic ambience mixed in with delicious recipes like this almond coffee cake, one other thing that draws most people to her blog is her ever-expanding list of literary city guides, “a resource for bookworms who love to eat”.
The list of literary city guides includes a large number of cities in the USA, but the international section is also growing quickly.
There are guides on Auckland, Barcelona, Bangalore, Brisbane, Brussels, Calgary, Cambridge, Canberra, Canterbury, Helginsborg (never heard of this one!), Glasgow, Hong Kong, London, Oxford, Rabat, Singapore, and Sydney.
These guides are mainly written by readers of Nicole’s blog – with each guide consisting of a mix of tips on places to eat, bookshops to linger in, reading festivals to check out, as well as other things specific to each destination.
I reached out to Nicole a few months ago and asked if she would be interested in a guide covering Buenos Aires, and she said yes!
After working on it for a couple of months, the latest literary city guide for Buenos Aires, Argentina is now out! (Thanks so much Nicole for letting me contribute!)
I suppose five years in any city is a sufficiently long time.
At least long enough for one to be able to give recommedations on great places to eat, bookshops to visit, food fairs to spend weekends at, as well as where to go horseback riding if you want to get some fresh air in nature and escape the city’s fast-paced rhythm.
In this quick guide on Buenos Aires, you’ll find my personal tips for eating out, reading and a few other things.
Hop on over to Nicole’s beautiful blog right now and have a look at the Argentine capital which has been my home for the past five years.
