Description

The simplest air fryer green beans that are perfect as a healthy snack or an easy side dish for Thanksgiving dinner, for making green bean casserole, or simply to grace your holiday dinner table. Ready in less than 15 minutes, this gluten-free green beans recipe is about to be your perfect side dish! Totally dairy-free and vegan too!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat: Preheat air fryer to 390F (200C) and spray the basket with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Wash and Cut Green Beans: Wash the green beans before trimming off the ends and then cutting the green beans into evenly sized pieces (approximately 4 inches long).
  3. Toss Ingredients Together: In a large mixing bowl, toss the cut green beans together with the oil and salt, mixing well until the green beans are evenly coated.
  4. Transfer to Air Fryer Basket: Once the air fryer has been preheated, transfer the green beans to the air fryer basket.
  5. Cook and Toss: Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, making sure to toss them every 2 minutes until they are evenly brown.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Serve with shredded vegan mozzarella cheese or vegan parmesan cheese if desired (optional).

Notes

Green Beans: I used fresh green beans, but feel free to use frozen green beans for convenience if you prefer. If using frozen green beans, simply cook them in the air fryer for 2 to 3 minutes longer.

Oil: I use sunflower oil because I always have a bottle of sunflower oil on hand. You may also use another vegetable oil (such as olive oil, sesame oil, melted coconut oil, or avocado oil) or melted vegan butter if you prefer. Alternatively, if you are not lactose-intolerant, feel free to use melted butter or ghee instead.

Salt: I use normal salt, but feel free to use a flavored salt or even Himalayan pink salt.

Optional Condiments/Herbs: Feel free to season the green beans with condiments of choice (such as garlic powder, onion powder, ground black pepper), or even with herbs (such as rosemary or thyme) if you prefer.

Do Not Overcrowd: I recommend placing the green beans in one single layer (or two layers max) in your air fryer basket so that there is enough space for the hot air to circulate and so the green beans cook evenly. If your air fryer basket is very small, simply cook the green beans in two different batches (do NOT overcrowd!).

Storing: To store, place the gluten-free air fryer green beans in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 2 to 3 few minutes before eating.
