Description
Celebrate the holidays with this easy apple cider mocktail – combining the crisp, spiced flavors of apple cider and cinnamon, together with zesty sparkle of ginger ale, this is one refreshing delicious drink for fall gatherings and cozy evenings! Totally gluten-free and vegan too.
Ingredients
- 4 ounces apple cider
- 2 ounces freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1/2 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/2 cup ginger ale
- Apple slices (for garnish)
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Prepare the Glass: Chill a tall glass in the freezer for 5 minutes. Once chilled, fill the glass with ice cubes to keep the mocktail chilled when you pour it in later.
- Mix the Base Ingredients: In a shaker or small pitcher, combine the apple cider, orange juice, lime juice, maple syrup and cinnamon stick. Stir well to blend the flavors.
- Add Ginger Ale: Pour the mixture into the glass and top with ginger ale for a refreshing and spicy fizz.
- Garnish & Serve: Add apple slices and a cinnamon stick for garnish. Serve immediately and enjoy the sweet and tangy balance of apple cider and ginger beer, with a bright touch from the lime and orange juice.
Notes
Apple Cider: I like using my homemade apple cider, but storebought cider will work just as well.
Orange Juice & Lime Juice: Make sure to use freshly squeezed orange juice and lime juice as the juices will impart bright flavor to the mocktail.
Maple Syrup: I used maple syrup as a natural sweetener. However, you may also use agave nectar or honey too. Alternatively, if you are diabetic or insulin-resistant, I highly recommend using maple-flavored monkfruit syrup (a maple syrup substitute that is low glycemic index and will not raise your blood sugar).
Cinnamon Stick: I prefer using a cinnamon stick instead of ground cinnamon for flavoring as the stick will impart flavor without leaving sediments. Also, the stick is great for decoration!
Ginger Ale: I used ginger ale to keep this recipe non-alcoholic. However, if you can take alcohol, go ahead and use ginger beer instead.
Chill the Glass: Make sure to keep the glass chilled (by placing it in the freezer for 5 minutes before using, and by filling it with ice cubes). This will keep the apple cider ginger mocktail cold for longer once served.
