The Perfect Fall Mocktail
Whenever I think of fall, I think of everything apple-related, but in particular, apple cider, whose auburn color and sweet-tangy flavors give off delicious autumn vibes.
This delicious apple cider mocktail combines the flavors of fall from the sweet apple cider and cinnamon, bright notes from the orange juice and lime juice, and the fizz from ginger ale together.
It definitely makes a very refreshing non-alcoholic drink that the whole family can enjoy this fall!
Why This Recipe Works:
- Simple Ingredients: All you need for this refreshing apple cider mocktail is just a small handful of ingredients, all of which are easily accessible at the local grocery store (nothing fancy required!).
- Ready in No Time: Got 5 minutes and a shaker? Then you’ve got this beautiful mocktail set to enjoy!
- Totally Gluten-Free & Vegan: The best part is that it’s totally gluten-free and vegan, which means that even those with Celiac disease or gluten or lactose intolerances can enjoy it without issues!

Recipe Notes + Substitutions:
- Apple Cider:Â I like using my own apple cider, but storebought cider will work just as well.
- Orange Juice & Lime Juice: Make sure to use freshly squeezed orange juice and lime juice as the juices will impart bright flavor to the mocktail.
- Maple Syrup: I used maple syrup as a natural sweetener. However, you may also use agave nectar or honey too. Alternatively, if you are diabetic or insulin-resistant, I highly recommend using maple-flavored monkfruit syrup (a maple syrup substitute that is low glycemic index and will not raise your blood sugar).
- Cinnamon Stick: I prefer using a cinnamon stick instead of ground cinnamon for flavoring as the stick will impart flavor without leaving sediments. Also, the stick is great for decoration!
- Ginger Ale: I used ginger ale to keep this a non-alcoholic beverage. However, if you can take alcohol, go ahead and use ginger beer instead. If you’re not a fan of the taste of ginger, go ahead and swap it out with equal quantities of sparkling water or club soda instead.
How to Make this Apple Cider Mocktail (Step by Step):
1. Prepare the Glass
Chill a tall glass in the freezer for 5 minutes. Once chilled, fill the glass with ice cubes to keep the mocktail chilled when you pour it in later.
2. Mix the Base Ingredients
In a shaker or small pitcher, combine the apple cider, orange juice, lime juice, maple syrup and cinnamon stick. Stir well to blend the flavors.
3. Add Ginger Ale
Pour the mixture into the glass and top with ginger ale for a refreshing and spicy fizz.
4. Garnish & Serve
Add apple slices and cinnamon sticks for garnish. A star anise would also add a nice tough.
Serve the apple cider ginger mocktail immediately and enjoy the sweet and tangy balance of apple cider and ginger beer, with a bright touch from the lime and orange juice.
Dish by Dish Tips/Tricks:
- Swap Apple Cider for Pear Cider: Alternatively, you can also try making this refreshing mocktail using pear cider, which is also great for the fall season!
- Swap Lime Juice for Cranberry Juice: To make it really festive, you can try swapping out the lime juice with cranberry juice, and decorate with some sugared cranberries too.
- Chill the Glass:Â Make sure to keep the glass chilled (by placing it in the freezer for 5 minutes before using, and by filling it with ice cubes). This will keep the apple cider ginger mocktail cold for longer once served.
