Description
Juicy and flavorful, these gluten-free turkey burgers are delicious with a gluten-free bun, in a lettuce wrap, or eaten on their own! Totally dairy-free too.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1/2 teaspoon ground paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
- 1 egg, beaten
- 4 slices dairy-free cheddar cheese
- 1 tomato, sliced evenly
- 1 cup fresh salad greens
- 4 gluten-free burger buns
Instructions
- Combine Burger Ingredients: Add all the burger ingredients to a bowl (ground turkey, garlic paste, mustard, mayonnaise, ground paprika, granulated garlic, ground coriander, chopped parsley and egg). Mix everything thoroughly.
- Form Patties: Form 4 evenly-sized round patties (3-4 inches in diameter and approx. ½-inch thick).
- To Cook in Skillet: Heat up a little oil in a hot skillet and then cook the turkey patties for 4 minutes, then turn the patties over to the other side and fry for another 3-4 minutes.
- To Cook in Oven: Preheat the oven to 380F and place the patties on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer (alternatively, you may spray the baing sheet with nonstick cooking spray). Bake the patties in the preheated oven for 5 minutes. Then flip the burgers to the other side and bake for another 5 minutes.
- To Cook in Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 360F and line the air fryer basket with parchment paper before and placing the turkey burgers on top. Fry for about 6 minutes at 360F. Then turn over and fry for another 3 to 4 minutes.
- Assemble Burger and Serve: Spread the bottom of the bun with mustard or mayonnaise and lay out lettuce leaves. Place a turkey burger patty on top and cover it with cheese. Top with sliced tomatoes and cover with the top of the bun. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
Ground Turkey: Since we are making turkey patties, ground turkey is a key ingredient. The type of ground turkey is up to you, but for a more flavorful and moist burger, I suggest using ground turkey made with a higher percentage of fat.
Garlic Paste: You can either use storebought garlic paste, or make your own by grating fresh garlic.
Mustard: I used Dijon mustard, but feel free to use whichever mustard you prefer.
Mayonnaise: I used regular mayonnaise to add moisture.
Spices/Condiments: To flavor the homemade turkey burgers, I added ground paprika, granulated garlic, and ground coriander.
Parsley: I like using fresh parsley for a pop of color and flavor. Alternatively, you may use dried parsley instead.
Egg: The egg helps to bind the turkey burger ingredients together, so make sure you add it in. If you are allergic to eggs, you can use an egg-replacer instead.
Cheese: I used dairy-free cheddar cheese to keep this recipe dairy-free, but if you are not lactose-intolerant, go ahead and use regular cheddar cheese instead.
Veggies: I like sliced tomatoes and some fresh salad greens to go with my burger, but go ahead and use other ingredients (such as pickles, fried bacon, caramelized onions, a sunny side up egg, etc).
Buns: I used gluten-free burger buns to keep this recipe gluten-free (either storebought or homemade gluten-free burger buns will work). However, if you are not Celiac or gluten-intolerant, go ahead and use regular burger buns instead.
