Instructions

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 360F and spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Prepare Flour Coating: In a bowl, combine the gluten-free measure-for-measure flour, ground paprika, granulated garlic, dried parsley and salt
  3. Coat Halloumi Strips with Flour Mixture: Roll the halloumi strips in the dry flour mixture until the strips are completely coated.
  4. Place in Air Fryer Basket: Place the flour-coated halloumi sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket and lightly drizzle or gently brush the tops of the halloumi sticks with olive oil.
  5. Cook Halloumi Fries: Air-fry the halloumi sticks for about 7 minutes, until golden brown, then flip the fries over, drizzle the tops with olive oil and cook for another 5 minutes.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Serve the halloumi fries hot, with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Halloumi Cheese: Since this is a recipe for halloumi fries, halloumi cheese is a key ingredient here. However, if you don’t have halloumi cheese, provolone cheese or mozzarella cheese would work too.

Gluten-Free Flour: I recommend using a good-quality gluten-free measure-for-measure flour (a 1:1 gluten-free substitute for regular all-purpose flour) that is made up of lighter flours/starches such as rice flour, tapioca starch, corn starch, and potato starch). I do NOT recommend using a gluten-free flour blend that is made up of heavier flours (such as garbanzo bean flour).

Olive Oil: I like using extra virgin olive oil, but feel free to use another vegetable oil of choice (such as canola oil, corn oil, sunflower oil).

Spices & Herbs: For flavoring, I used a mix of ground paprika, granulated garlic, and dried parsley. However, feel free to use other herbs or spices of your choice too.
