Instructions

  1. Prepare Seasonings: In separate saucers, mix the following: (i) Pinch of salt and 1 tablespoon of olive oil; (ii) Pinch of salt, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, granulated onion, granulated garlic, turmeric powder; (iii) Pinch of salt, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, paprika powder, and cumin powder; (iv) Pinch of salt, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and dried herbs.
  2. Brush Corn Tortillas with Seasonings: Brush each corn tortilla with one of the four different seasoning mixtures.
  3. Cut Tortillas into Pieces: Cut each of the seasoned corn tortillas into small 1-2 inch triangles.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 360F and spray air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
  5. Air Fry Tortilla Pieces: For the first batch of seasoned tortillas, place the cut tortilla pieces in the air fryer basket and fry for 2 minutes at 360F. Shake  air fried corn chips and fry for 1 more minute. Repeat for the other three batches.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Serve the homemade corn tortilla chips with your favorite salsa.

Notes

Tortillas: I used gluten-free soft corn tortillas to keep this recipe gluten-free (you can either use white or yellow storebought tortillas or make your own homemade corn tortillas). However, you may also use flour tortillas if you prefer not to use corn-based tortillas.

Seasonings: In this recipe, you’ll find 4 different seasonings for making your own homemade corn tortilla chips. You can of course keep it simple and air fry the tortilla chips without any seasonings at all, or use a simple salt and olive oil seasoning, or make the seasoning as flavorful as you wish (totally up to you!).

Olive Oil: I like using extra virgin olive oil, but feel free to use the vegetable oil of your choice (sunflower oil, corn oil, canola oil, avocado oil, etc).

Do NOT Overcrowd: It is important that you do NOT overcrowd the air fryer basket with too many tortilla chips at once or they will not crisp up properly.

Storing: To store, place the cooled homemade corn chips in an airtight container and store at room temperature for up to 3 days. If the chips are not as crispy as before, reheat them in the air fryer at 360F for 1 minute to crisp them up again.
